Have you ever thought about why you do what you do as a church? Whether you’re aware of it or not, values are a foundational part of every church’s DNA. Being able to articulate a list of values defines the nature of a church culture.
On October 27, the Purpose Driven Team hosted a gathering for 13 International Partnering Churches at Saddleback’s Rancho Capistrano campus. In attendance were 30 PD practitioners from the United States and Canada, currently coaching other churches in PD strategies.
From October 11-14, Pastor Rick Warren hosted PD Essentials to share the PD vision, values, principles, and processes on which Saddleback was built. Hosted at Saddleback Lake Forest, over 1,200 people attended to hear the foundations for building a healthy church.
Several months ago, we shared the story of how Chicago’s Parkview Christian Church had been commissioned to launch the Purpose Driven strategy in Malawi. Now, they are seeing the fruit of their labor as the country transforms into a thriving PD nation.
Over 20 years ago, Sebastián Ojeda had a dream of building a church in Buenos Aires. When he was commissioned to plant Saddleback’s first international campus, he was overwhelmed by the mission to launch the campus within five months. Watch the video of his Purpose Driven journey.
September marked completion of the first leg of the PDC Tour—a road trip across the country to host meet-ups and to talk about ministry with church leaders. Behind the wheel were Mingo Palacious, PD Pastor of Evangelism and Culture, and Jesse Stedman, PD/PEACE Global Events Coordinator.

Hitting the road on August 10, the PDC Tour RV started its journey across the country, stopping at select cities to host meet-ups and to talk ministry. It’s been a time of sharing stories, building relationships, learning from pastors, and hearing the needs for the church.
In the wake of the 2016 Purpose Driven Church Conference held in June, the Purpose Driven Team is keeping the momentum going with PD events across the country. During the month of August, they kicked off PD First Look and the PDC Tour.
